Chris Tomasson of the Rocky Mountain News reports that Marcus Camby is concerned. After the Nuggets traded their second-leading scorer, James Posey, for players that don?t figure in the team?s future and a couple of draft picks, he questioned the team?s direction.

"I don't know what we're trying to do," Camby said after Posey was dealt. "I don't know if we're trying to win now or trying to win later."

After a meeting with GM Kiki Vandeweghe, the reasoning behind the deal has been explained. "At first I was (disappointed with the Posey trade), but since that time management pulled me aside and talked with me," said Camby. "I pretty much understand where they're coming from. Being one of the veterans, I just wanted to know what was going on around here. They told me they had a lot of young guys that were capable of going out and playing, that we had a clutter at (shooting guard and small forward) and they didn't think they were going to be able to re-sign Posey."

With all of the changes going on around him, Camby wonders if maybe he fits in the team?s future plans. Asked if he believes he's a long-term piece, Camby said, "I don't know. When the trade deadline comes up, anything can happen."

Tomasson explains that Camby is making $6.75 million this season and can become a free agent after next season. He has a player option for 2004-05 worth $7.75 million. "I've got one more year," Camby said. "I'll have to start to weigh my options after this year."

So what is Camby leaning toward doing after next season?

"No comment," he said.
