Now that his jersey hangs from the rafters Peter Vecsey believes it is time that the Knicks brought Patrick Ewing home.

Vecsey added that should he not have demanded the trade which sent him to Seattle for one poor season before he signed with the Orlando Magic (and subsequently was brought out of the second year), having another poor year before retiring he surely would be in a Knicks front office job right now than being with the Wizards in a coaching role.

'Now's the time - or at least a couple months from now after the Wizards wither away and Doug Collins and his staff scatter (educated speculation on my part) - for Ewing to return to the scene of his success and be restored in the center of his rightful franchise,' writes Vescey.

As Mark Jackson puts it; "It's terribly indecent if there isn't a [significant] spot for a star who shed blood for you."
