Sensing what appeared to be the obvious, Carmelo Anthony canceled his workout with the Pistons, knowing they are expected to draft 7-foot-1 Darko Milicic, the 17-year old forward-center from Yugoslavia.

Anthony was expected to arrive Friday and work out with the team Saturday. The organization confirmed Wednesday that Anthony wasn't coming in for the workout.

Joe Dumars, the Pistons' president of basketball operations, was asked if Anthony's cancellation on Tuesday provided a clear indication that the Pistons would take Milicic.

"Yes," Dumars told The Associated Press on Wednesday night.

Dumars declined to comment further.
