Hawks general manager Billy Knight said Monday that despite Jason Terry's stated desire to move on, the team will match the three-year, $22.5 million offer sheet the restricted free agent point guard signed with the Utah Jazz on Thursday.

"That's what we plan to do," Knight said. Since signing Utah's offer sheet, Terry has expressed his frustrations with the Hawks' ownership situation and the team's inability to strike a deal this summer. Knight said the Hawks offered Terry a seven-year deal worth about $50 million in August. His deal with the Jazz could be worth up to $24 million with incentives. The Hawks have until next week to match, but Terry has already urged team president Stan Kasten to let him go.

"I don't put any stock in what's being said," Knight said. "I still think JT is a hell of a player and a good guy."
