The identity of the woman who has accused NBA star Kobe Bryant of rape was mistakenly posted on the official state courts Web site Tuesday.

The Colorado Judiciary Branch placed a filing with the woman's name and home address on the site, www.courts.state.co.us, for about an hour. The state agency learned of the error by several calls from the media, said Karen Salaz, the judiciary spokeswoman.

"It was an oversight on our part. We just missed it," Salaz said. "The minute we heard about it, we snagged it and pulled it off."

Rape victim advocates cringed at the news, saying it was disheartening even though it was a mistake. Mary Loring of the Sexual Assault Interagency Council in Denver said the Bryant case has set back the cause of victims' rights after a decade of progress.

"Every single element of this case seems to be contributing to a potential victim's reluctance to make a report to the police," Loring said. "My concern and, frankly, my fear is that more under-reported violent crime will be even more under-reported."

The error is also frightening given that the alleged victim and her family have already received death threats, said Kathie Kramer of Denver's Rape Assistance and Awareness Program.

"In this particular case, I think her safety might be an issue," Kramer said.

Bryant is accused of sexually assaulting the 19-year-old Eagle woman June 30 at a posh resort in Edwards. The 25-year-old Los Angeles Lakers star has said the sex was consensual. A preliminary hearing will be held Oct. 9.
