The 76ers, who signed Allen Iverson to a 4-year contract extension last week, are on the verge of finalizing an extension for Eric Snow.

"I'm fairly optimistic we can wrap this up this week," Steve Kauffman, Snow's agent, said last night. "We've been talking for a while."

Snow is listed at $4.5 million on this season's salary cap and has an opt-out clause for next season and an additional option clause for 2005-06. It is believed Kauffman and the Sixers have been discussing a 3-year extension that could be worth more than $18 million.

A player signing an extension cannot be under contract for more than six seasons. Iverson's new deal lasts six seasons, with the total package being worth more than $104.9 million.
