Byron Scott was back in the Meadowlands on Friday night with an hobbled Hornets team to face his old team almost a year after being fired as coach of the New Jersey Nets.

"I think the Lord looked at the situation and said, 'I'm going to remove you and put you in another situation that will test you.' For real," Scott said. "I believe I was put here for a purpose. I believe you have to go through pain before you go through joy, just like I did in New Jersey."
