Detectives want to interview an NBA player who grew up in Chicago about a weekend shooting at a popular West Loop restaurant, authorities said.

Chicago Police want to question Boston Celtics guard and former Crane High School standout Tony Allen, 23, about the early-Sunday shooting inside the White Palace Grill at Roosevelt and Canal, a source close to the investigation said.

A Hinsdale man -- who sources said may have been in an earlier dispute with Allen -- was wounded in the shooting.

Police are not calling Allen a suspect, and he has not been accused of any wrongdoing.

But authorities believe Allen was inside the restaurant when a fight broke out at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday and someone else pulled a handgun and fired at least two shots. Allen allegedly ran from the eatery as the shooting erupted, the law enforcement source said.

"We need to locate [Allen] and interview him," said the source. "And at the present time, detectives are viewing [surveillance camera] tapes from the restaurant and trying to put it together."
