Hornets' most improved player David West missed Monday's game against the Utah Jazz because of a sprained left ankle, The News-Picayune is reporting. West suffered the injury in Sunday's loss to the Los Angeles Lakers when forward Lamar Odom collided into him during the third quarter.

"It's the same ankle that I've had problems with all season," West said. "If we weren't having back-to-back games, I'll be fine. I lay in bed all day and the pain didn't go away. It just seems like there is a target on me with just this ankle."

West is day to day.
