Brian Roberts and Dayton extended Rick Pitino's wait to join the 500-win club.

Roberts scored 28 points, and the Flyers spoiled Pitino's bid to become the 17th active Division I coach to reach that victory plateau, beating Louisville (No. 11 ESPN/USA Today, No. 14 AP) 70-65 on Saturday.

Dayton (7-1) won its sixth consecutive game and beat the Cardinals for the second straight year by jumping to an early lead then answering a late push by Louisville (5-2).

The Cardinals got off to a sluggish start and simply had no answer for Roberts down the stretch.
