Sam Cassell signed with the Celtics on Monday night, according to a report on the Boston Globe?s web site.

David Falk, the agent for Cassell, told the Globe that Cassell signed a contract shortly after clearing waivers at 6 p.m. Monday.

?He had some personal business he had to attend to in Baltimore. There was a death in the family,? Falk said. ?But he will be on his way up there and everything is done. He is really excited.?

The 38-year-old Cassell was waived by the Clippers on Thursday afternoon amid rumors he was set to sign with the Celtics if he cleared waivers.
