Donnie Walsh told the media that he thinks this year's draft is better than advertised.

Walsh believes the depth of the draft "certainly goes into the 20s."

He then made comments that could fuel speculation that the Knicks are considering trading down if the player they prefer is not available at eight:

"You get a good player well into the end of the first round and a player who can probably help most teams .... No matter what you like, you may not be able to get him and you might have to have a backup to what you really like."

Walsh also reiterated that the team is sticking to its 2010 plan to improve via free-agency.

"I think we can do well in [2010] and if we can do well in that, you can make a quick jump .... I don't know if it's going to be a blockbuster ? but we're going to try to use our money wisely and be ready for a free agency period in another year."
