Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni says that rookie guard Toney Douglas earned his spot in the team's rotation.

"You have to earn your spot and that's what he did," D'Antoni said. "You can't hand it to him. Let's see what you can do. You earn it and do it and he did it."

Douglas has gone from out-of-the-rotation to possibly the team's starting point guard in a matter of weeks.

"He was improving the whole time but you go with your big lineup, you go with gut instincts," D'Antoni said. "Maybe if I went with him earlier, it wouldn't have worked out."
