Carmelo Anthony denied that he has given the Nuggets an ultimatum that he will not sign an extension with any team except the Knicks, and said he doesn't believe that a trade is imminent.

"No," Anthony responded when asked if there is any truth to the notion that he has notified the Nuggets that the Knicks are the only team to which he would accept a trade.  "I haven't talked to Masai (Ujiri) about who I would sign an extension with, and who I want to sign with. I've never had that conversation."

Both ESPN and CBS Sports reported Sunday that Anthony will only agree to sign a contract extension with the Knicks if he is traded, though neither outlet claimed that Anthony directly issued an ultimatum to Denver's front office.

"Something will have to be resolved one way or the other (by the trade deadline)," Anthony said. "Our conversations (between Anthony and Josh Kroenke and Ujiri) will continue to happen. So that's a good thing."

"Yes," Anthony said when asked if it is possible that he could still decide to stay in Denver after this season. "Yes, it is. My options are open. That doesn't mean I'm not (going to sign the extension with Denver). That doesn't mean I am. My options are open."

Anthony would not be specific on what it would take to convince him to remain a Nugget.

"I don't know," Anthony said. "That's for us to talk about when I have those meetings with (Kroenke and Ujiri)."

"Of course," Anthony said when asked if he wants to be in Denver.  "I've been here, man, for seven years. It's my eighth season. I call this thing home. If you've been any place for eight years, that's going to be home. That's what you call home. So this community embraced me like I was one of their own. So of course."

Anthony was then asked why he hasn't yet signed the extension if he is comfortable in Denver.

"I just said what I said, man," Anthony said. "I said what I said."

Anthony was asked again why he thinks the Nuggets will only send him to a team that meets his approval, which he told the media on Sunday in New York.

"Me and Masai and Josh are all on the same page right now," Anthony said. "If anything was to happen (with a trade), I don't think that they would ship me to the Kansas City Royals or anything like that. That's just my take on it. I don't know. They might be thinking something different."
