In a meeting with NBAPA executive director Billy Hunter, a handful of top player agents pushed Hunter to consider following the path of the NFLPA and decertifying the union.

The agents feel that the threat of decertification, and the lengthy and uncertain legal battle that would follow, is the only way to make the owners come to the bargaining table.

“We have one weapon left, and that’s decertification,” a prominent agent said. “We need to use it.”
