MILWAUKEE – After aggravating his bruised right wrist on Tuesday, Deron Williams missed his first game of the season Wednesday night against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Playing the second game of a back-to-back with a day off looming on Thursday, the Brooklyn Nets believed Wednesday was a good opportunity to rest Williams.

C.J. Watson started in place of Williams.

Williams is day-to-day and could return as soon as Friday night at home against the Charlotte Bobcats, and the Nets are confident his injury is not a major issue.

“It’s been flaring up all throughout the season and it seems like every time he falls, he falls right down on that wrist,” Avery Johnson said.

“Any time a guy has a problem with his shooting hand and his shooting hand is not 100 percent, I’m sure that’s going to have some sort of effect. I think that it’s something he’ll get through.”

Williams, averaging 16.6 points on 39.8 percent shooting this season, didn’t have to receive any treatment on his wrist before Wednesday’s game.
