Steve Kerr appears to prefer to advance in his negotiations with Phil Jackson on becoming head coach of the New York Knicks, but he hasn't ruled out discussing the newly created opening with the Golden State Warriors.

Kerr has strong relationships with Warriors' owner Joe Lacob and president Rick Welts.

Kerr has no previous head coaching experience, but ran the Phoenix Suns' front office for several seasons.

Kerr resides in San Diego and has a daughter at Cal-Berkeley.

On Tuesday evening, Wojnarowski reported that Kerr hasn't begun contract talks with the Knicks though they were expected to begin by Monday.

Frank Isola of the New York Daily reports that Kerr has already been contacted by the Warriors.
