The New York Knicks are insisting that Phil Jackson handled negotiations with Steve Kerr, which ultimately resulted in him picking the Golden State Warriors.

Jackson initially offered a three-year, $13.2 million contract to Kerr.

The New York Post reports that Kerr accepted a five-year, $22 million contract with the Warriors, though it had been widely reported as $25 million over five seasons.

Jackson added a fourth season to the offer after the Warriors delivered their proposal.

Kerr never spoke with James Dolan during the process, meeting with Jackson, Steve Mills and Jamie Matthews.

Kerr was Jackson's only candidate at the time of his decision.
