Bill Self believes the pending move from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Minnesota Timberwolves will be best for Andrew Wiggins.

“I know Andrew,” Self said, “and this is the type of thing that really motivates him, the fact that someone else -- even though it’s a business -- didn’t want him as badly as they should have.’’

“That’s the way he sees it. He’s happy. Don’t anybody feel sorry for him. I’m not saying he hasn’t been in limbo and that it hasn’t, at times, been frustrating. But he told me, ‘Coach, I’m good with this.’ He told me that two weeks ago.’’

Self coached Wiggins for his lone season at Kansas.

The Timberwolves will allow Wiggins to be the main cog instead of a role player on the contending Cavaliers.

“I would love to be at that first game they play against Cleveland,” Kansas assistant Kurtis Townsend said. “He’s going to put on a show.’’
