Spencer Dinwiddie is credited with helping recruit Kyrie Irving to the Brooklyn Nets. Dinwiddie was “at the forefront” of Brooklyn's push for Irving, according to one source who spoke with Marc Stein of the New York Times.

Dinwiddie and Irving were classmates in a Harvard Business School program for athletes that began last fall and continued remotely for a semester.

Dinwiddie and Irving began building a bond that turned into a regular dialogue.

Dinwiddie signed a three-year, $34 million extension with the Nets last December.
