Kyrie Irving appeared to settle on the Brooklyn Nets as his free agent choice several weeks before June 30th when his decision was announced.

Irving was also linked to the New York Knicks, but he reportedly was concerned about the situation of their management.

“When it came down to the Nets and Knicks he was concerned about the management of the Knicks,” a person familiar with Irving’s thinking told Frank Isola of The Athletic. “It’s really as simple as that.”

The Knicks had hoped to sign both Irving and Kevin Durant in 2019, which was part of the reason why they traded Kristaps Porzingis to the Dallas Mavericks.
