John Beilein is stepping down as head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Beilein and the Cavaliers negotiated a settlement that will pay him a portion of the remaining money on his 19-20 deal. Beilein left Michigan to become head coach of the Cavaliers on a five-year deal.

The Cavaliers are 14-40 and last in the Eastern Conference.

Beilein struggled in the job both on the court and in the locker room.

Both management and Beilein wanted to dissolve the partnership.

The Cavaliers will promote J.B. Bickerstaff to full-time head coach. Bickerstaff was initially hired as part of an eventual succession plan with Beilein.
