The team Kyle Lowry ends up on by the deadline will more than likely be the team he plays for next season, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN. The Toronto Raptors are considering trading Lowry with the Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers linked to him, but they could also keep him with the intent of either extending him or re-signing him in the offseason. Lowry will be a free agent this coming offseason.

"The Lowry thing is this," said Windhorst on his podcast. "I was talking to a GM this morning and he basically described it as this: 'Kyle Lowry's free agency is happening right now.' The expectation is that Kyle Lowry will have a new contract by the end of this week. It is either going to be to stay in Toronto, whether it's signed or an understanding that is going to happen. It's going to be Miami or Philadelphia. Those are the three options that the expectation is out there."

Both the 76ers and Heat likely have enough assets to satisfy Toronto's asking price.

Lowry signed a one-year, $31 million extension with the Raptors in 2019 that delayed his free agency by one year.
