The San Antonio Spurs and Jakob Poeltl have some decisions to make in the near future. The seventh-year center can be an unrestricted free agent this summer, and he's expected to garner lots of interest on the open market.

That interest has already started, as several teams are pursuing Poeltl ahead of next month's trade deadline. Much like happened with Dejounte Murray, San Antonio could get offers that force them to change their plans on keeping Poeltl. It's expected that the Spurs will get significant offers for Poeltl ahead of the trade deadline.

San Antonio can offer Poeltl a four-year, $58 million extension now, but the talented center is expected to get bigger offers in free agency. The Spurs are in position to have top odds in the 2023 NBA Draft Lottery. If they come away with the chance to select Victor Wembanyama, many see Poeltl as the ideal frontcourt partner for the talented young big man.

Before the trade deadline, both the Spurs and Poeltl will have to make an important decision on how long their partnership is likely to continue.
