All-NBA voting will become less complicated under the new CBA. The NBA will transition to positionless All-NBA teams under the new CBA. This will replace the current center, two forwards and two guards setup.

All-NBA teams have existed since the initial 1946-47 season, when the NBA was called the BAA. For the first nine seasons, All-NBA teams were positionless. The NBA transitioned to the center, two forwards and two guards setup for the 1955-56 season.

Changing back to being positionless is the first major change to All-NBA teams since the league added an All-NBA Third Team for the 1988-89 season.

In addition to All-NBA teams being positionless, they will also require players to hit a 65 games-played threshold. This is expected to be similar to eligibility requirements for other major NBA awards.
