The New Orleans Pelicans have recently made overtures to improve their relationship with Zion Williamson as the relationship has been rocky.

Williamson and David Griffin met last week at team headquarters to discuss the offseason. Griffin also brought Williamson over to meet with Gayle Benson. The meeting was mostly positive, according to a source.

Benson offered a more direct line of communication with Williamson moving forward if he felt that was necessary.

Multiple sources also tell The Athletic that the Pelicans are "fairly unlikely" to trade Williamson before Thursday's draft. The Pelicans are interested in drafting Scoot Henderson, who will either go No. 2 to the Charlotte Hornets or No. 3 to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Williamson is entering Year 1 of a five-year, $193 million contract extension.
