Longtime NBA center Gorgui Dieng has retired. Dieng reach his professional goals and is now working for the San Antonio Spurs organization.

“Everyone around me knew I wanted to play 10 years and that was it,” Dieng said. “I always said that. When I reached 10, I said I’ve reached my goal. It was time to stop and try different stuff.”

Dieng is now working for the Spurs front office as a "basketball operations representative". The 10-year veteran approached San Antonio about working as unpaid intern. The Spurs instead decided to pay Dieng to spend his time learning the ins and outs of the front office.

Dieng played in 628 regular season games over his 10-year NBA career. In addition to the Spurs, Dieng also played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Memphis Grizzlies and Atlanta Hawks.
