The Atlanta Hawks have signed Ryan Kelly while waiving Edy Tavares to clear a roster spot.

Tavares was in his second season with the Hawks. He appeared in one game, playing 3:36 against the 76ers on Saturday with two points and one rebound. He appeared in 11 regular-season games with the Hawks last season and averaged 2.3 points and 1.9 rebounds in 6.6 minutes. 

Kelly signed a non-guaranteed contract with the Hawks this summer and was on the training camp roster. He was waived on Oct. 18. He appeared in all six of the team’s exhibition games and totaled 29 points (4.8 average), 16 rebounds and eight assists. Kelly was signed and released by the Celtics after being waived by the Hawks.

Kent Bazemore has apologized for his flagrant foul on John Wall during the Atlanta Hawks' 114-99 win over the Washington Wizards.

As Wall went up for a dunk attempt on a fastbreak, Bazemore came from behind and pushed him with two hands. Wall was sent crashing awkwardly to the floor.

Wall immediately bounced up to let Bazemore know he didn't appreciate the foul to put him in danger.

Bazemore apologized to Wall the next day on Twitter.

"This game has done wayyyy too much for me to play it that way. I've been undercut and it's not a fun feeling. My apologies bro @JohnWall," wrote Bazemore.

Dennis Schroder and the Atlanta Hawks have agreed upon a four-year, $70 million contract extension. Schroder will receive $62 million in guaranteed money over the next four seasons.

The Hawks traded away Jeff Teague in the offseason in a move that signaled their commitment to Schroeder long-term at point guard.

Schroder averaged 11.0 points, 2.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 20.3 minutes per game last season with a PER of 15.5.

Schroder was the 17th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft out of Germany.

The Atlanta Hawks have waived Jarrett Jack.

Jack was signed by the Hawks on a veteran-minimum deal worth $980,431.

Jack has been unable to practice as he returns from torn right knee ligaments.

The Hawks have only Will Bynum and Josh Magette as point guards on the training camp roster behind starter Dennis Schroder and backup Malcolm Delaney.

The Atlanta Hawks have requested waivers on Matt Costello.

Costello did not appear in any preseason games for the Hawks after averaging 5.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists in Summer League.

The roster stands at 19.

Paul Millsap remains undecided on whether he will opt out of the final season of his contract with the Atlanta Hawks to become a free agent in 2017.

Millsap's player option for 17-18 is worth $21,472,407.

With the salary cap increasing, Millsap could likely command a higher average salary on a multi-year deal.

“I haven’t decided anything, no,” Millsap said.

Millsap re-signed with the Hawks in 2015 on a three-year, $59 million deal.

“I think the plan is to see how this season goes and go from there,” Millsap said. “I can’t predict what is going to happen. For me, it’s focus on basketball. Get through this year, try to get a championship for this team first of all. We’ll deal with all that during the summer time when we have all our options on the table.”

Tiago Splitter will miss at least four weeks with a Grade 2 hamstring strain.

Splitter missed the first three exhibition games this preseason due to the hamstring, which was injured in a practice.

Splitter is returning from hip surgery that limited him to 36 regular-season games in his first year with the Hawks. 

If Splitter returns in four weeks, he'll have missed at least seven regular season games.

The Atlanta Hawks have signed guard Josh Magette.

The roster stands at 20.

Magette played in 45 games (all starts) in 2015-16 with the Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBA Development League, averaging 11.5 points, 9.1 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals in 38.0 minutes, leading the D-League in assists per game and steals per game.

He’s also played for Koroivos (Greece) and Landstede (Netherlands).

A native of Hoover, Alabama (Spain Park HS), Magette played four years at Alabama-Huntsville, where he was Gulf South Conference co-Player of the Year as a senior in 2012. He will wear uniform No. 7.

The Atlanta Hawks have requested waivers on Richard Solomon.

Solomon went undrafted in 2014 and played for the Suns and Thunder in Summer league this past year. Solomon averaged 11.3 points and 8.9 rebounds in Japan last season.
