Chandler Parsons Goes To California To Recover From Car Accident

Jan 23, 2020 2:40 PM

Chandler Parsons remains in the first stage of the NBA’s concussion protocol and has not progressed to exertional challenges, such as light conditioning.

Additionally, Parsons continues to receive treatment for symptoms of whiplash and the associated cervical disc injury. After discussing with Parsons, his medical team and the doctors at Emory Sports Medicine, it was agreed by all parties that it would be best for Parsons’ recovery for him to return home to California and continue to recover and rehabilitate under the treatment of a team of doctors and therapists overseen by the Hawks and Emory Sports Medicine staff.

Andre Drummond's Extension Demands Kept Hawks From Offering First Round Pick To Pistons

Jan 23, 2020 11:49 AM

The Atlanta Hawks were close to trading for Andre Drummond with an offer of Chandler Parsons and a 2020 first round pick from the Brooklyn Nets to the Detroit Pistons.

The Hawks, however, were unwilling to ultimately add the pick because Drummond's contract extension demands were too high for them.

Drummond is on a $27 million contract this season and is scheduled to earn $28.7 million next season if he were to opt in.

While the center position has been devalued in recent seasons, Drummond could be one of the more attractive players in a limited free agent market in 2020.

Chandler Parsons May Have Suffered Career-Ending Injuries In Car Accident

Jan 21, 2020 11:47 AM

Chandler Parsons may have suffered career-ending injuries during last week's automobile accident. The accident was allegedly caused by a drunk driver.

The law firm Morgan & Morgan, however, said Monday in a statement that Parsons "suffered multiple severe and permanent injuries including a traumatic brain injury, disc herniation and a torn labrum."

Parsons has been plagued by chronic knee injuries since signing a four-year, $94.8 million deal with the Memphis Grizzlies in July 2016, appearing in just 100 games in four-plus seasons over that stretch. Parsons has played in just five games this season with the Atlanta Hawks.

"Chandler is having a difficult time accepting the consequences of the defendant's reckless conduct on the roadway," Morgan & Morgan said.

"Chandler was in peak physical condition at the time of the wreck. He is now working with a team of doctors to regain his health, and at this time, his ability to return to play is unclear. Our focus right now is on helping him make a full recovery, while we also work to hold any and all responsible parties fully accountable."

Luka Doncic: I Honestly Thought Kings Were Going To Pick Me

Jan 18, 2020 4:24 PM

Luka Doncic reiterated his stance he thought he would be drafted by the Sacramento Kings.

“They came to Madrid (to see him play for Real Madrid and to share a dinner on June 5, 2018)," Doncic told The Athletic about the Kings’ contingent’s visit during the draft process. “They came with the owner. Everybody came, so I honestly thought they were going to pick me.”

Doncic was then asked if it has been made clear to him why they decided to draft Marvin Bagley instead of him at No. 2 in 2018.

“I mean, I think it’s because of Euroleague; it’s different basketball,” Doncic said. “I was averaging in Europe — in the Spanish League — like 12 points (per game). And in Euroleague 14 (points per game). So it’s different basketball.”

Hawks, Pistons End Andre Drummond Trade Talks

Jan 16, 2020 2:58 PM

The Atlanta Hawks have broken off trade talks with the Detroit Pistons on Andre Drummond.

Both sides were optimistic a deal could eventually be agreed upon involving Drummond.

The Hawks will instead remain patient with options available to them to improve at the draft and during free agency.

Detroit would have received Damian Jones, Chandler Parsons or Allen Crabbe (who was dealt to Minnesota on Thursday) and a first-round pick for Drummond.

Drummond is expected to be come a free agent and decline his $28.8 million player option for 20-21.

The Pistons are still fielding trade calls on Drumond.

The Hawks have all of their own first round picks in addition to a 2020 from the Nets and a 2022 from the Thunder.

Hawks Acquire Jeff Teague, Treveon Graham From Wolves For Allen Crabbe

The Atlanta Hawks have acquired Jeff Teague and Treveon Graham from the Minnesota Timberwolves for Allen Crabbe.

Teague will serve as Trae Young's backup for the Hawks.

Trae Young: It's Hard To Judge Who Won Or Lost Hawks-Mavs Trade Right Now

Jan 15, 2020 1:06 PM

Trae Young and Luka Doncic will forever be linked by the draft night trade between the Atlanta Hawks and Dallas Mavericks. Young offered his own assessment on the deal with approximately a season and a half of sample size.

"[Doncic's] on a team, and they've got more veterans and is a team that's more looking to win now," Young told Bleacher Report. "We're more of a team that wants to win now, but we're focusing more on developing, and we're one of the youngest teams in the league. It's just two totally different situations, so it's just hard to really judge who won or lost [the trade] right now. I don't really pay too much attention to it. I just try and focus on my team and how I can help my team. Maybe down the road at the end of our careers, I think that can be a topic of discussion, but right now, I don't pay too much attention to it."

The Hawks used the additional draft pick they acquired from the Mavericks to select Cam Reddish.

While Young has played at an All-Star level this season, Doncic has been in the MVP conversation.

"I want to bring a championship, I mean multiple championships, to the city of Atlanta," Young told Bleacher Report. "I think the fans and this city deserves it. It's a super dope cultural city, and they just deserve a championship with the Hawks. That would be great to have. For me, if I was able to do that, I think that would be a pretty big thing in my story."
