There are six teams that still have their entire $12.4 million non-taxpayer midlevel exception available.

The Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Charlotte Hornets, Memphis Grizzlies, Portland Trail Blazers and Washington Wizards each have the exception. The Grizzlies and Hawks are clearly projected to be in the playoff picture, while the Nets could be on the fringe of it. The Hornets, Blazers and Wizards are expected to be in the lottery.

The Indiana Pacers have $7.5 million in room, while the Detroit Pistons, Houston Rockets, Orlando Magic, San Antonio Spurs and Utah Jazz have the $7.7 million room midlevel exception. 

The NBA Mexico City Game 2023 will feature the Atlanta Hawks and the Orlando Magic playing a regular-season game at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City on Thursday, Nov. 9.  

The matchup will mark the league’s 32nd game in Mexico since 1992, more than any country outside the U.S. and Canada. 

The Magic will be playing its fourth game in Mexico since 2012.

The Hawks will be playing their first game in Mexico.

The Atlanta Hawks have requested waivers on guard Tyrese Martin.

Martin appeared in 16 games for the Hawks during the 2022-23 season, averaging 1.3 points in 4.1 minutes per contest. He also played in 30 games (28 starts) with the College Park Skyhawks of the NBA G League, recording 18.1 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 33.0 minutes (.502 FG%, .352 3FG%, .784 FT%).

Selected 51st overall in the 2022 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors, Martin was acquired by the Hawks in a draft night trade.

Wesley Matthews has agreed to a one-year deal with the Atlanta Hawks.

Matthews spent three of the past four seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks. Last season, Matthews averaged 3.4 points and 2.2 rebounds in 15.8 minutes over 52 games.

The Dallas Mavericks remain interested in trading for Clint Capela. With the Atlanta Hawks one of the teams most interested in trading for Pascal Siakam, the Mavericks could participate in a potential trade involving the Toronto Raptors to take on Capela.

Capela has two seasons remaining on his contract at nearly $43 million.

With the Raptors re-signing Jakob Poeltl, they are not likely to have interest in taking on Capela.

The Mavericks and Hawks discussed a Capela trade before the draft, but the addition of Josh Green was a sticking point.

The Atlanta Hawks are trading TyTy Washington, Usman Garuba, Rudy Gay, and a second-round pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Patty Mills, sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The Hawks will save $4.5 million in the trade.

It is unclear whether the teams will keep the players on their respective rosters. There are reportedly teams interested in acquiring Washington and Garuba separately. 

Dejounte Murray and the Atlanta Hawks have agreed to a four-year, $120 million extension.

The Hawks traded for Murray from the San Antonio Spurs during the 2022 offseason.

With the extension, Murray benefits from rule changes in the new collective bargaining agreement on extension raises.

Aaron Holiday has agreed to a one-year deal with the Houston Rockets.

Holiday appeared in 63 games last season with the Atlanta Hawks, averaging 3.9 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 13.4 minutes.

Pascal Siakam is entering the final year of his contract with the Toronto Raptors after he declined an extension offer in 2022. There is some thought that they could have potentially sold high on him at the 2023 trade deadline now that the price for stars in trade have seemingly dropped in the environment of a new CBA.

"I don't know what they had on the table though," said Zach Lowe. "I just think it was a bunch of eh."

Siakam is expected to remain the subject of trade rumors if he doesn't sign an extension with the Raptors.

"The Clippers were interested," added Lowe about trade deadline activity. "I just don't know what the Clippers have."

This offseason, the Atlanta Hawks have been linked with Siakam.

Pascal Siakam could be put on the trade market by the Toronto Raptors between now and the start of the regular season, reports Michael Grange of Sportsnet.ca.

The Atlanta Hawks and several other teams checked in with the Raptors on the availability of Siakam after Fred VanVleet signed with the Houston Rockets.

The direction of the Raptors is one of the biggest unknowns across the league as they appear poised for a reset around Scottie Barnes, but have been reluctant to do so.

“They’re not the easiest team to deal with, I’ll just say that,” said one league insider.

Siakam turned down a three-year max extension at the beginning of the 22-23 season in hopes of qualifying for a supermax extension worth 35 percent of the cap. Siakam fell 15 voting point shy of an All-NBA team.

Siakam could sign a four-year, $183 million extension this offseason.
