A few weeks ago Chandler was considering becoming a free agent.
Kansas guard Sherron Collins went undrafted on Thursday night, but will get a chance to make it in the NBA.
Collins will play for the Bobcats' summer league team next month.
"I was just told - and it's probably already been reported - Sherron Collins will play summer league with Charlotte," Jeff Goodman of FOX Sports wrote on his Twitter page.
Charlotte Bobcats General Manager Rod Higgins announced today that the team has made a qualifying offer to forward Tyrus Thomas, making him a restricted free agent. The qualifying offer allows the Bobcats to match any offer he receives from another team.
The Bobcats acquired Thomas from Chicago on February 18, 2010, in exchange for Acie Law, Ronald ?Flip? Murray and a future first-round draft pick.
In 25 games with the Bobcats, Thomas averaged 10.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.5 blocks, while scoring in double figures 14 times. The fourth overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft, Thomas has appeared in 279 career NBA games with averages of 8.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocks.
Tyrus Thomas will be a restricted free agent next week, but his preference is to remain with the Bobcats.
"Most definitely, that's my goal," Thomas said. "We'll see what happens in the next couple of weeks."
Charlotte acquired him in a trade with Chicago back in February.
Bobcats general manager Rod Higgins has said that they'll likely offer Thomas a one-year qualifying offer worth a little over $6 million to make him a restricted free agent.
"When we traded for him, he's a guy that we envisioned going long-term with," Higgins said.
The Bobcats are talking with teams about either trading for or purchasing a draft pick heading into Thursday's NBA Draft.
Charlotte coach Larry Brown said Monday that several teams are looking to give up picks.
The Bobcats don't currently have a pick in each the first or second round.
"[Owner] Michael [Jordan] might buy a draft pick. I don't know," Brown said. "We might be able to move a contract to get a draft pick. I don't know. It might be a trade involved that could do that. You better be aware of the talent and what value you have on a pick."
The Bobcats are "very active" in trade talks around the NBA, a source told the Charlotte Observer.
The source, which came from within another team's front office, said the Bobcats seem willing to increase their payroll if they can swing a move that will allow them to significantly improve.
Darius Miles, a former third overall pick, is attempting a comeback to the NBA as a member of Charlotte's free-agent camp.
Miles once suffered what was called a "career-ending" knee injury and has dealt with off-court issues as well.
"For a guy like him to come in this kind of setting speaks well for him," Bobcats coach Larry Brown said. "It shows you how much he wants to play."
Miles, who has been out of the league for more than a year, is working on his jump shot and still possess the quickness that made him a top prospect.
"My son is two years old and he's never got a chance to see me play. I want him to get the experience of being in an arena," Miles said. "I'm 28 years old. I've got at least five or six good years left in me if my body holds up. I just want to be part of something, part of something that means something."
The Bobcats are surprised by news that Tyson Chandler may opt out of the final year of his contract to hit the free agent market.
ESPN.com's Chad Ford reported on Friday that Chandler is considering doing so.
Chandler is scheduled to make $12.6 million in 2010-11 and certainly would not earn that much under a new deal after two injury-plagued seasons.
"I have not spoken to [agent] Jeff [Schwartz] in a while, but it's so funny - I was texting back-and-forth with Tyson just last night - that didn't come up," general manager Rod Higgins said Friday.
Bobcats center Tyson Chandler is seriously considering exercising the early termination option in his contract, a source told ESPN.com's Chad Ford.
If he does so, he'll give up the $12.6 million he's scheduled to earn in 2010-11 and would become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.
Chandler has struggled over the last two seasons, but the source says he's finally completely healthy.
"He's gotten all of his issues taken care of," the source said, "and he's gearing up to have a big year next season. I think you're going to see the same Tyson who played so well for the Hornets a few years ago."
Larry Brown again failed to confirm that he'll return to coach the Bobcats next season when speaking with the media on Monday.
Brown has helped conduct pre-draft workouts and had discussions with Charlotte's front office about how to shape the team's roster, but simply won't offer any assurances.
"I'm here coaching," Brown replied when asked about his future. "Obviously, I'm under contract and doing my job."
