The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed Scotty Hopson using their prorated $2.5 million room exception with a non-guaranteed second season at $2.5 million.

Hopson has played in Greece, Israel and Turkey since going undrafted out of Tennessee in 2011.

Anderson Varejao left Sunday's game due to a strained right shoulder and will be reexamined on Monday.

Varejao has dealt with knee and back injuries this season.

Varejao is known for providing heart and passion to the Cleveland Cavaliers' lineup.

Seth Curry will not be signed by the Cleveland Cavaliers to a second 10-day contract, according to a source.

Curry's first 10-day contract expired on Sunday.

Curry scored three points in nine minutes in one appearance with the Cavaliers.

Kyrie Irving is making progress in returning from a strained left biceps, though he's still a week away from having it formally reexamined.

"He's getting closer but he's not playing tonight," Mike Brown said.

Brown was asked on Tuesday if he thought Irving would return this season.

"He's doing the things we need him to do, but it's too early for me to say,'' the coach said.

Curry has appeared in 36 games (35 starts) for the Santa Cruz Warriors of the NBA Development League this season, averaging 19.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.4 steals in 35.2 minutes per game. He also played one game for the Memphis Grizzlies earlier in the season.
