The Utah Jazz made qualifying offers to guards Dee Brown and C.J. Miles on Friday, making both players restricted free agents.

The move means the Jazz can match any offer Brown or Miles get from other teams that want to sign them.

Jazz basketball operations senior vice president Kevin O'Connor made it clear Friday that the notion Andrei Kirilenko is on the NBA trade block is an inaccurate one.

"We're not trying to trade Andrei," O'Connor said. "I am not trying to trade Andrei Kirilenko, so you can put that in print."

Larry Miller told Gordon Monson and his radio co-host Kevin Graham on 1280 The Zone on Thursday that he agreed Kirilenko has vast maturing to do: "He hasn't just flat laid down on us. But you used the word[s] - and I'm being tough on him probably, if he doesn't like it, I'm sorry, I'll put my arm around him and tell him I still love him. But he needs to grow up . . . I just hope he will."

If he doesn't, Kirilenko could be gone via a trade, depending on another ominous if - if any other team would take him, given his huge salary, reduced productivity and emotional instability.

Despite complaints about his playing time and even tears during the playoffs, Andrei Kirilenko likely will remain with the Utah Jazz.

"We're going to keep him, as far as I'm concerned," coach Jerry Sloan said Monday.

"We're not looking. I don't like to trade people," he said. "But we've got to do what's best for the franchise, always."

When asked about the Jazz and starting small forward Andrei Kirilenko during a recent online chat, ESPN.com NBA writer Chad Ford said this: "I heard they almost moved Kirilenko at the trade deadline to the Raptors for Mo Peterson and change."
