Boozer Reiterates Desire To Remain In Utah

Feb 24, 2010 5:09 PM

Jazz power forward Carlos Boozer continues to express his desire to remain with the team for the foreseeable future.

Boozer was asked on ESPN's "Jim Rome Is Burning" how aggressive he felt Utah would be in re-signing him this offseason.

"I hope very aggressive," he said. "This is a team that I'm proud to be a part of and I hope it's an option for me to come back and stay.

"I've made that very clear and I'm really happy that we have a great team, we're a very deep team and we have a chance to stay good and hopefully get better as well. But this is a place I'd like to be and I hope the option is there for me this summer."

Boozer went on to say that winning a championship is foremost on his mind.

"Just look at what's in front of me. The biggest thing being I'm trying to win a championship and being in position to do so. I'll see what's in front of me at the table and make a good decision."

Hawks End 17-Year Drought In Utah

Feb 23, 2010 5:52 AM

The Hawks beat the Jazz in Utah on Monday night, the first time they've been able to do that in 17 years.

Joe Johnson scored 11 of his 28 points in the fourth quarter to help Atlanta notch a 105-100 win over Utah.

The Hawks hadn't won in Utah since Feb. 13, 1993, when Dominique Wilkins scored 43 points in a 121-112 victory.

"It's about time," Johnson said. "The last time our team won here, I was just a little kid watching Dominique and dreaming I might play in the NBA someday."

The Jazz were playing without Deron Williams and Andrei Kirilenko.

"We can't make excuses," said Paul Millsap. "Losing Deron and Andrei just gives other guys the opportunity to step up. We just have to do a better job down the stretch."

Boozer Says He May Stay With Jazz

Feb 21, 2010 6:23 PM

Carlos Boozer is starting to talk about staying with the Jazz.

"I think it's a great possibility," Boozer said Friday.

"We'll find out in July," he added. "I'm not going to think about that, worry about that.

"We've still got 20-something games, playoffs and a whole lot of basketball left. I'll worry about that when the time is right."

Boozer will hit the free agent market this summer.

Sloan Likes Moves In Dallas, Houston, Sacramento

Feb 21, 2010 9:53 AM

Jazz coach Jerry Sloan saw his team subtract at the trade deadline, but that doesn't mean he wasn't keeping tabs on the teams that improved over the last week.

"Dallas, I thought, did a good job," Sloan said. "I think Houston and Sacramento both look like they did. It all depends on how those guys play. All those things happen on paper, and we haven't seen them play. I say it looks like both teams helped themselves in the long run."

Of all the deals, Sloan believes that the Mavericks have best set themselves up to contend for a championship.

Deron Unhappy With Trading Brewer

Feb 19, 2010 3:55 PM

Jazz point guard Deron Williams wasn't happy with Thursday's events as the team traded Ronnie Brewer to the Grizzlies.

Williams expressed his frustration while speaking with the Salt Lake Tribune.

"I think if we'd make a trade it would be something a little different than that," he said. "You look at all the teams that are getting better around the West and we essentially get worse, if you ask me."

Jazz, Heat, Wizards Discuss Boozer Trade

Feb 18, 2010 12:44 PM

The Jazz and Heat have opened up trade talks centered around Carlos Boozer, according to a report from ESPN.

According to Chad Ford, the Heat made an effort to acquire Boozer but the package wasn't enough to interest Utah.

Yahoo's Marc Spears reported more recently than Ford that the two teams were in 'serious discussions' and Udonis Haslem and Mario Chalmers would be involved.  The Wizards would reportedly be involved in a deal as well in order to further save money.

Michael Beasley has not been involved in trade discussions, according to Spears.

Sources tell Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski that they are not optimistic of a deal being agreed upon before the deadline between the parties.
