John Wall Will Delay Decision On Wizards' DVPE Offer

Jun 30, 2017 7:28 PM

The Washington Wizards will offer John Wall a Designated Veteran Player Extension that would begin in 2019 and add four years on his deal.

Wall's extension over four years could be worth $168 million.

Wall will wait to agree upon the extension until he sees what the Wizards do in free agency.

“I just want to kind of see what they do throughout free agency, talk to my family, talk to my agency and my managers and see what we want to do,” Wall told The Washington Post after walking the red carpet Monday night. “It’s definitely a place I want to be … I’ve just got to make sure things are going in the right direction, and make sure we are building the team in the way we want to be, and don’t get locked up in a situation where you might not feel comfortable.

“But I love being in Washington, I love playing there, and there’s not another city I’d really want to play for.”

The Wizards are one of only three teams in the NBA that has never paid the tax.

Washington has a key decision to make this offseason on Otto Porter Jr.

Wizards Interested In Otto Porter For Paul George Sign-And-Trade

Jun 30, 2017 11:08 AM

The Washington Wizards have interest in executing a sign-and-trade of Otto Porter for Paul George. Washington would sent a protected pick to the Indiana Pacers as well.

Porter would have to agree to the deal in restricted free agency.

John Wall has reportedly been recruiting George to the Wizards.

Washington has had interest in making a more dramatic move to take the next step after their second round exits in three out of the past four seasons.

John Wall Recruiting Paul George To Wizards

Jun 26, 2017 11:33 PM

John Wall admitted he is attempting to recruit Paul George to the Washington Wizards.

"I am talking to some guys, Paul. I know his ultimate goal of where he wants to be. I'm trying to see if we can make something happen," Wall told The Undefeated before the NBA Awards on Monday night.

The Wizards have had trade conversations with the Pacers, a source said. The source added that the Pacers have been patient and no deal with the Wizards is close at the moment.

The Wizards would likely need to include Otto Porter Jr. in a sign-and-trade in order to acquire George.

"Look at our team. We are one piece away," Wall said. "We have the point guard, we have the shooting guard, we have the center, we have the power forward. Our 3-man, [Otto Porter Jr.], did great for us. You can't take nothing away from what he did. But, [George] is a guy that can guard LeBron and go back at LeBron. It's a piece that you're going to need to win. If you don't have a guy who can do that, you don't have a chance. ...

"You got to add another star. You got to add another piece. You got to have three guys. And that's what it's looking like."

Asked about the Wizards' chances to get George, Wall said: "Right now, I don't know. Indiana has all the rights to do whatever they want. And if he goes where he doesn't want to go, he doesn't have to sign next year."

Carmelo Anthony Was Previously Open To Trade To Wizards, 76ers

Jun 26, 2017 6:54 PM

Carmelo Anthony is currently reluctant to move out of New York for family reasons. Anthony and his wife are estranged and he continues to have a close relationship with his only son.

For that reason, Anthony is no longer as interested in playing in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Clippers have appeared to be the most realistic trading partner for Anthony in the past.

Anthony was considering accepting a trade to either the Philadelphia 76ers or Washington Wizards, which would keep him close to New York, but his mindset now is to remain with the Knicks.

Phil Jackson confirmed Anthony's position in an interview with MSG Network when the Knicks president said: "We've expressed the fact that we haven't been successful and it might be time for (Carmelo) to find an opportunity to go somewhere else. He's come back and said he'd just as soon stay.

Anthony is owed $54 million over the next two seasons.

Kelly Oubre Jr. received platelet-rich plasma injections in his right knee Friday in Los Angeles.

Oubre played through pain during the Wizards’ playoff run and is not expected to undergo further injections and will sit out the next few weeks to rest his knee.

Reggie Jackson, Isaiah Thomas and D'Angelo Russell each also underwent the procedure this season.
