Markieff Morris is expected to have sports hernia surgery Friday and could miss at least the NBA preseason.

Morris recently received the diagnosis, according to a source, after spending parts of the summer working out in preparation for the upcoming season.

Morris began complaining late summer about deep discomfort as he exhibited symptoms of a sports hernia. 

Morris also had a sports hernia in 2010 before his junior season at Kansas, which was treated with surgery.

Marcus Morris and Markieff Morris are beginning their trial for allegedly assaulting a man outside a Phoenix recreation center.

The Morris brothers are accused of helping three other people beat 36-year-old Erik Hood on Jan. 24, 2015.

Maricopa County Superior Court officials announced the trial's jury selection will start Wednesday.

The Morris brothers were previously teammates with the Phoenix Suns until Marcus Morris was traded to the Detroit Pistons.

The Washington Wizards will sign Carrick Felix to a training camp deal.

Felix last played in the NBA during the 13-14 season with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Felix has spent the past three seasons in the G-League, averaging 9.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists last season.

The Orlando Magic have hired Randy Wittman as a coaching consultant.

Wittman will report to Frank Vogel.

Wittman last coached in the NBA in 15-16 with the Washington Wizards.
