Bruce Bowen scored 19 points to lead the Spurs past Boston 124-78 in an exhibition game Saturday night in front of 15,987 at the Alamodome.

Bowen made three 3-pointers as the Spurs blitzed the Celtics from the outside early. The Spurs had three 3-pointers in the first quarter to jump out to a 26-17 lead at the end of the opening quarter.

With Mark Bryant sidelined with a sore right hamstring, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich game Amal McCaskill a bigger chunk of playing time. McCaskill, a long, quick 6-foot-11 center, used his athleticism to get to the rim or pick up a foul.

Bowen, who did not re-sign with Miami in part because the Heat did not think too highly of his offensive skills, could find a home in the Spurs' offense, similar to the way Sean Elliott was used the previous three seasons. Spotting up around the perimeter, Bowen made three of his five 3-point attempts.
