Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel reports: If you think Michael Jordan looks odd in a Washington Wizards uniform, Magic center Patrick Ewing might have joined him, making every night an old-timer's game.

Ewing, 39, says that if Jordan, 38, had announced his comeback earlier, he might have been persuaded by His Airness to play in D.C.

"Washington was one of the team's Patrick was looking at," Magic General Manager John Gabriel said. "Washington, us, Miami and I think he thought about returning to New York."
Said Ewing, "Michael had been my nemesis for all those years when I played with the Knicks. Heck, he's been my nemesis since college. I wanted the chance to play with him. It would have been great, to step on the floor with Michael.

"Michael has the pull," Rivers said. "If Chicago would have put Jordan in the front office, in some capacity, I wonder if he would have gotten some of our free agents (such as Tracy McGrady and Grant Hill).

In other news, Ewing has been encouraging Gabriel to sign guard John Starks, his former New York Knicks teammate. The Magic have not shown any interest in Starks, who played with the Utah Jazz last season.

"Yeah, Patrick keeps telling me that John called, John called again," Gabriel said. "John has called Doc (Rivers), too."

RealGm Note: Last time I checked, John Starks was still on the Jazz roster.
