"It pretty much doesn't matter what he tells me tomorrow," said Camby, referring to his long-awaited appointment with a foot specialist this afternoon. "I'm going to try to practice this week and kick this boot."

The walking boot that protects his sore left foot is a big, awkward-looking reminder of where the Knicks are right now, with eight days left before the regular season opens. The 1-2 trip was harder to watch than it was to play, particularly the way Utah and San Antonio overpowered the Knicks on the boards, and he knows -- just as each of his teammates know -- that he would have made a significant difference in both those games.
