Frank Isola of the New York Daily News reports that U of Maryland power forward Chris Wilcox is renting out Madison Square Garden to conduct an open workout for NBA teams.

Wilcox, who is represented by boxing promoter Rock Newman will have the Garden all to himself for two hours on Saturday to display his skills to the NBA. Wilcox is projected to be a lottery pick and may be taken by the Knicks with the 7th pick.

This is the first time the Garden will be a workout site for a draft prospect, who is clearly looking to generate the same type of buzz Yao Ming created when he held a public workout in Chicago last month.

Coincidentally, Newman was banned from the Garden in 1996 for his part in a brawl during a Riddick Bowe-Andrew Golota fight.
