Phil Miller of the Salt Lake Tribune reports: Jazz forward Matt Harpring had a bad night in Philadelphia.

First, him and former coach Larry Brown had a little war of words through the media.

In response to a recent Sports Illustrated article in which Harpring questioned Brown's confidence in him, Brown shot back.

"Come on, it's ridiculous. I helped him get [to Utah]. If I didn't think highly of him, I don't think Kevin (O'Connor) would have signed him," Brown said. "He took the most shots on the team, after Allen [Iverson]. He played as many minutes as anybody but Allen. . . . I told Kevin, who is as good a friend as I have in the league, that he was a perfect fit."

Then, Harpring got booed louder than Karl Malone.

We are guessing it had something to do with the SI article and of course, Harpring leaving Philadelphia this past summer.

Finally, to top off the night, Harpring landed on Malone's foot in the second quarter. He had to leave the game but luckily X-rays found no breaks, but Harpring was wearing a protective boot afterward, and Jazz trainer Gary Briggs said it is doubtful that he will play Sunday in New Jersey.
