Marc Berman of the New York Post reports: Latrell Sprewell let GM Scott Layden know what he should do with Knicks' draft pick in June: Get a big man.

Latrell Sprewell knows it now more than ever, he just doesn't voice it as often any longer. Since the Knicks were eliminated by the Raptors in the first round in 2001, Sprewell was a nonstop chatterbox about the Knicks needing size.

And with the club on the verge of mathematical playoff elimination for the second straight year - the tragic number is 1 - he is hopeful Knicks GM Scott Layden will resist the urge of taking the "best player available" on Draft Night June 26th, and select a power forward or center.

"We definitely want [Antonio] McDyess back, but we have a lot of guards, perimeter guys," Sprewell said following the Knicks' ugly 109-98 loss to the Clippers Saturday at Staples Center. "We still could use guys inside to bang."

Problem is, the draft's weakest position is center. None of the college centers coming out are projected as lottery picks. That's why all the fuss has been made about 7-foot Yugoslavian Darko Milicic, who's expected to go No. 2 after LeBron James. The Knicks also have two second-round picks. The extra one was Denver's and should be the 31st pick, which makes it a nice asset to trade.
