One little press release has created as much fallout around the NBA as a 1950s-era nuclear weapons test in the Nevada desert.

Last Sunday's explanation-less statement that the Hornets would not renew the contract of Coach Paul Silas made Silas the league's hottest coaching candidate, bar none.

Silas has acknowledged he'll be interviewing for the head coaching vacancy with the Los Angeles Clippers, then speaking to Cleveland Cavaliers owner Gordon Gund about the Cavs' vacancy.

After that, Silas is rumored to be a possible candidate to take over the Washington Wizards, should Wizards owner Abe Pollin show Doug Collins the door in the same fashion in which he ushered out the man who hand-picked Collins, Michael Jordan.

Though the Atlanta Hawks are still coming down to earth following the sale of that team to David McDavid, don't be surprised if Silas surfaces as a potential candidate for that job
