The Cavaliers have received permission to speak to former Knicks coach Jeff Van Gundy.
They are trying to set up an interview with him.
Van Gundy was the Knicks coach for seven years before resigning 19 games into the 2001-02 season. He compiled a 248-172 record (.590) in New York.

"He's a hell of a coach," a league source said. "When he's the coach, everyone knows he's in charge. He's a micro-manage guy. I don't know if that's good or not. He demands loyalty from everyone in the organization.

"I tell everyone, if you go into a game and you're down a point in your last possession, you're going to win the game. Jeff is probably going to wait and see about all the jobs out there. It might be all about money. He might go to the highest bidder."
