Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo broke Bob Cousy's season-single assist mark in Friday's overtime loss to the Rockets.

Rondo, who had 10 assists against Houston, now has 724 assists with seven games left. Cousy's mark of 715 had stood since the 1959-60 season.

Kendrick Perkins said the Big Three is clearly "passing the torch" to the young point guard.

"Sam (Cassell) and I have laughed about this, and Tyronn Lue and I have talked about it too," Ray Allen said. "This team is set up perfectly for (Rondo). With his speed and athleticism, in every spot he has someone who can get the ball in the hole, including Perk. I imagine there?s a lot of point guards in this league who look at him with envy.

"Records are interesting. Just when you say that someone is never going to break a particular record, someone always comes along."
