Anthony Davis remains convinced that the New Orleans Pelicans can become playoff contenders.

"For sure," said Davis. "We had everybody healthy the first four games, and we went 4-0. Then Elfrid [Payton] goes down, I've been out a couple games, Niko [Mirotic] ... a lot of guys have been out.

"Every time we've had a full roster, we've been a tough team to beat. But we still have to find a way to win. Injuries are part of the game, you can't control them. That's why we have 12 guys on the roster.

"You just need five guys to play. As long as you have that, you have a chance to win."

Davis will become eligible for a supermax extension this summer and that will be a barometer for his future.

The Boston Celtics will be one of the teams interested in trading for Davis if he becomes available. Davis was asked if he heard the local fans cheering for him during Monday's game.

"I heard it tonight," Davis said. "But I'm just focused on this team. I'm trying to do whatever I can to help this team get wins with the roster we have. It's been a rocky season, so it's on me to try to figure it out.
