Tony Parker thought he would remain with the San Antonio Spurs for his entire career, but a June conversation with Gregg Popovich changed the dynamic.

"Pop just told me that I was going to be the third point guard, and I had to think really hard about if I was going to stay," Parker says. "So then I told him I'm not gonna stay. I think they really didn't believe I was gonna leave anyway. I think they thought I'd be like Manu and just stay."

Parker signed with the Charlotte Hornets.

The Spurs lost Dejounte Murray for the season in October, which would have created more minutes for Parker.
