Marcus Thompson II believes Kevin Durant is more likely to re-sign with the Golden State Warriors than he did when he submitted the final pages of his book on Durant in early December. Thompson's book, KD: Kevin Durant’s Relentless Pursuit to Be The Greatest,” will be published on May 14th.

Thompson cited the way the Warriors were able to move past Durant's confrontation with Draymond Green early in the season as a reason why he could remain with the franchise.

“I feel stronger about the Bay Area than at the time,’’ said Thompson. “It underscores the nature of him. He’s trying to figure it out. At the end of the day, he has to sit down in front of people so they can paint the picture of the Knicks. I do feel like the picture the Warriors will paint is a pretty good one.”

Thompson said the Warriors' run in the playoffs could impact whether he re-signs or leaves for the New York Knicks.

“I don’t think it’s written in wood,’’ Thompson said. “Kevin feels a lot. He goes to the beat of his own drum. I wouldn’t be surprised if something could move him [in a meeting] when it’s time to make the decision.

“One thing is very clear, Kevin is going to do what he wants to do. He’s shown he vacillates and struggles about stuff and thinks about stuff, weighs it, feels it and it changes. He’s being more ‘him’ now. I don’t know how people are saying it as such a lock.

“If he signed with the Warriors for the most money and went for the most championships, would anyone be aghast?’’ Thompson added. “It would make sense on many levels.”

Thompson also said the Los Angeles Clippers and Brooklyn Nets could be considered.
