The Boston Celtics will hire Ime Udoka as their next head coach.

Boston and Udoka are finalizing an agreement.

Udoka spent this past season as an assistant coach with the Brooklyn Nets. Udoka was an assistant coach with the San Antonino Spurs for several seasons and was an assistant coach with the Philadelphia 76ers during the 19-20 season.

The Celtics received strong recommendations for Udoka from Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart, who played for him during the 2019 FIBA World Cup.

Darvin Ham and Chauncey Billups were also considered top candidates in Boston's search process.
