Rumors of a possible trade to the Grizzlies intensified when Monta Ellis purchased a home in the Memphis area recently.

However, that doesn't mean Golden State and Memphis have rekindled trade talks from earlier this season.

Ellison One Of Four Finalists To Purchase Warriors

May 27, 2010 4:32 PM

Chris Cohan has identified four different prospective buyers for his team, one of which is Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, and will inform the groups early next week, according to a source.

Cohan met for the past few days with Sal Galatioto and former NBA Deputy Commissioner Russ Granik of Galatiato Sports Partners, the group brokering the sale of the team, to discuss which of the 12 bidders would move on to the next round.

The list was narrowed to four based primarily on the bidders' likeliness of receiving ownership approval from the league, as well as their ability to transact the sale quickly. Cohan would like a sale finalized by the end of the summer so that a new owner can make decisions for the upcoming season.

The other three finalists have not been identified to the public.

Oracle CEO Larry Ellison is one of the bids, the sources claim, basically resubmitting his earlier offer of $315 million.

The team is hoping to have a new owner in place by July 1.

Warriors Have Attracted 13 Bidders

May 16, 2010 9:53 AM

The New York Daily News writes that the Warriors have attracted 13 potential bidders.

The bidders include an unidentified NFL owner, a group of Chinese businessmen and a group including Magic Johnson.

The top three or four will be selected this week and move on to the next phase.

Oracle founder Larry Ellison did not submit a bid, but he has been sending out signals that the team should go for around $315 million.

NBA officials disagree with Ellison, claiming that the Warriors could fetch close to double the $275 million that Michael Jordan recently paid to purchase the Bobcats.

Initial Warriors Bids Due Next Week

May 13, 2010 3:19 PM

Things remain quiet on the Warriors sale front even though the first round of bids are due next week.

Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News writes that there is good reason for the lack of action.

"Unless somebody provides a surprisingly huge number out of the blue, there's very little ownership-level buzz about a mega-offer for the Warriors right now," Kawakami wrote.

"There doesn't seem to be a lot of real money out there," one source told the Mercury News.
